What I’ve learned from learning about bees

I’ve just listened to a fabulous podcast about bees.  The researcher and beekeeper, Erika Thompson shared some facts that really got me thinking about intelligence, creation and the body we inhabit.

Mrs. Thompson describes how each bee has its role in the colony, each role specific and unguided.  The bees simply know what they’re supposed to do and never vary from that role.  There are tens of thousands of bees working in unison to support the hive and the queen, producing honey from pollen, reproducing their numbers, reinforcing their hive.  Without the cooperative effort, the entire system would fail.

This is incredibly in line with how our human colony works.  We have not tens of thousands but rather hundreds of millions of cells (bees) each with individual roles.  Each cell does its job, never varying, never “taught” in the traditional sense of the word.  Our cells are producing hormones and steroids (honey), reproducing fertility cells, skin cells, liver cells and reinforcing our hive (cell walls, cell membranes) every second that we’re alive.

How did this come to be?  Was it by chance?  Was there a guided hand in our creation and the creation of the bees?  It appears that the superorganism which is the bee colony and the superorganism which is the human machine are remarkably connected in their function.  It is our shared opinion in the chiropractic community that there is in fact an inborn or innate intelligence that exists in all living creatures, in all cells, given unto us during our creation.  It is also well agreed upon that innate intelligence is responsible for all of the functions of our cells (bees) and is what is responsible for our being.  Sometimes our body encounters something that disrupts the flow of innate intelligence (physical trauma, emotional stress, chemical toxicity) just as a bee hive may face the same foes.  Largely we expose ourselves to these traumas voluntarily.  I think you’d be hard fought to find a bee that ate poorly, didn’t exercise, smoked or stressed about world events.  Fortunately for us, we have chiropractic adjustments which can reestablish the flow of this energy by correcting spinal alignment, thereby allowing our innate energy to flow uninhibited.

The next time you see a bee busily collecting pollen, I challenge you to think about your own body in the same context.  Your intestinal cells are concurrently collecting nutrients from your diet for use in the superorganism.  Your immune cells are flying around cleaning up intruders just as the drone bees are protecting the hive.  There is so much complexity in the world yet such simplicity.  Our greatest gift is our body, our very own superorganism.  Please treat it as such.
